I found this recipe on Pinterest and thought it looked yummy so I decided to give it a try. It was absolutely delicious and easy too!
I have been looking for slow cooker recipes to keep the heat down in the kitchen. I found a few, so I will be sharing them with you.
2 lbs. lean ground beef
1 (1oz) envelope dry onion soup mix
1/2 cup Italian seasoned bread crumbs (I used Italian seasoned croutons and broke them up)
1/4 cup milk
1/4 cup all purpose flour
2 T vegetable oil (I used olive oil)
2 (10.75 oz cans) condensed cream of chicken soup
1 (1oz) package dry au jus mix
3/4 cup of water (I used 1 cup to make a little thinner)
1. In large bowl, mix together the ground beef, onion soup mix, Italian bread crumbs and milk with your hands. Form into 8 patties.
2. Heat the oil in a skillet with medium-high heat. Lightly coat the patties with flour, then quickly brown on both sides. Place the patties in the slow cooker stacking alternately like a pyramid. In a medium bowl, combine the cream of chicken soup, the dry au jus mix and the water. Whisk well. Pour over patties in the slow cooker. Cook on the low setting for 4 - 5 hours or until the ground beef is well done.
I browned the patties the night before and kept them in the fridge overnight, then place it all in the slow cooker before I left for work. It was cold to start with and it cooked for 9 hours and was still perfect.
This recipe makes 8 servings.
